Pan pizzas, thicker than conventional pizzas and cooked in special pans, will be sold at Domino's nearly 5,000 U.S. stores beginning Sept. 24. Among the big chains, Pizza Hut all but owns the pan pizza market, which accounts for a large piece of its business. The cafeteria crackdown will ban deep fryers, make leafy green salads a mandatory option and allow only healthy snacks to be stocked near the cafeteria entrance and at cash registers. At least half of all sandwiches and salads must be made or served with whole grains. Half-size sandwich portions must be available for sale, reported The Associated Press.

The TV channel's aim is to offer exclusive content to entertain customers and is akin to a broadcast network with its own news, entertainment and sportscasts localized for cities and even neighborhoods. 월마트는 향후 2년 내에 첫 번째 점포를 인도에 오픈할 예정이다.  Walmart expects to open its first retail stores in India in the next two years after the government eased foreign-investment restrictions. The retailer's Asia chief executive stated it will take 12 to 18 months to open retail stores once Walmart gets permission to do so, though only nine of India's 29 states indicated they will welcome foreign retailers, reported The Wall Street Journal. 일본 패밀리마트는 태국에의 점포 오픈에 속도를 내고 있다.  Japanese c-store operator FamilyMart will accelerate its store openings in Thailand through a new business partnership with Central Retail. Under the tie-up accord, FamilyMart will sell its entire stake in SFM Holdings, which holds FamilyMart's area franchiser Siam FamilyMart, to Central Retail for 7.8 billion yen (about $100 million). FamilyMart revealed the new tie-up will help double the number of convenience stores to 1,500 within five years and 3,000 in a decade, compared with 746 stores as of the end of August, reported The Wall Street Journal. 냉동식품은 2011년 약 79억불로 전년 대비 약 0.6% 증가하였다.  Frozen meals saw a 0.6% increase in sales in 2011, rising to $7.9 billion, following two years of declines after peaking in 2008 at $8.2 billion, according to Mintel. Weight-management brands are growing faster than non-diet brands. At Nestle, four of five Stouffer's Lean Cuisine varieties gained market share in the 52 weeks that ended Feb. 19, according to Mintel. By comparison, the core Stouffer's brand lost 0.2 percentage points, although it remains the largest frozen-food brand, with a 12.5% share, or $432.5 million in sales, reported Advertising Age.

온라인 식료품점 Peapod는 가상 슈퍼마켓을 기차역을 대상으로 확장하기로 했다.  Launched at a Chicago "L" station last spring, online grocer Peapod is expanding its virtual supermarkets to 17 CTA and Metra stations. The interactive billboards, which allow commuters to scan and buy grocery items on the fly using a free smartphone app, will pop up at nine CTA and eight Metra stations. Virtual shelves will also go up over the next week at dozens of stations in Boston, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, according to a Peapod spokeswoman, reported Chicago Tribune. "I expect single-person households will continue to grow and people will have less money and all of that plays to our strengths," stated the president and CEO of Seiyu and Walmart Japan Holdings. 미국인들이 가장 선호하는 해산물의 10종은 성장하는 시장에서 수입된 것으로 보인다. 46.5억 lbs의 전체 소비량 중 약 33억 lbs가 수입된 것으로 추정되고 있다.  The top 10 most consumed seafood items by Americans are feeding a growing market, according to the National Fisheries Institute. The overall seafood volume was 4.65 billion-lbs., according to the federal government. The data also showed American seafood companies exported a record 3.3 billion-lbs. valued at $5.4 billion. 북한 농가들은 수확량이 높은 농가를 대상으로 미국 대상 수출을 승인할 수 있다고 얘기하고 있다.  North Korean farmers who have long been required to turn most of their crops over to the state may now be allowed to keep their surplus food to sell or barter in a directive enacted by Kim Jong Un, The Associated Press reported. The proposed directive appears aimed at boosting productivity at collective farms that have struggled for decades to provide for the country's 24 million people, according to an article in The Wall Street Journal. Hot and dry weather has burned into Russia's cereal harvest, slashing yields by more than a quarter just as the U.S. experienced its worst harvest in more than half a century, sending global prices for wheat and corn into overdrive, reported Reuters.

Meanwhile, 반면에 러시아는 몬산토 산 GMO 옥수수에 대해서는 수입금지를 유지하였다.  Russia's consumer-rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import of Monsanto's genetically engineered corn following a French study's suggestion the crop might cause cancer. Rospotrebnadzor also claimed the country's Institute of Nutrition was asked to assess the validity of the study, while a Monsanto spokesman stated the impact of the ban would likely be small as Russia is a net exporter of grain and imports little American-grown corn, reported The Wall Street Journal.

인도의 쌀 수출량 중 약 600,000톤 이상이 항구 정체와 수요 증대로 지연되고 있다.  India has pending rice export shipments of more than 600,000 tons due to congestion at ports and strong demand, resulting in large costs of demurrage and shipment delays, reported The Wall Street Journal. This is significant because it reflects India's inability to quickly ship out excess grains at a time when both demand and supply is strong. The pending shipments are almost equivalent to India's actual monthly rice exports.

우유와 요거트를 함께 섭취하는 것은 다이어트에 도움이 별로 안 된다는 연구 결과가 나왔다.  Adding a couple of servings of milk or yogurt to a diet will not likely help in weight loss, found a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Researchers analyzed the results of 29 studies including a total of 2,101 participants with dairy intakes ranging from one to more than six servings per day. On average, people assigned to the extra-dairy groups lost 0.3 more pounds than the comparison group, a difference that could have been due to chance, reported Reuters.

냉동감자를 배송 및 준비하는 과정에서 아크릴아마이드라는 유해물질의 발생 가능성이 제기되었다.    The process for preparing frozen potatoes that are distributed to some food outlets can influence the formation of acrylamide in the fries that people eat, according to a study published in ACS' Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. The study identifies potential ways of reducing levels of acrylamide, which the National Toxicology Program and the International Agency for Research on Cancer regard as a "probable human carcinogen," reported Science Daily.

The company's voluntary recall now also includes 76 varieties of almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter, tahini and roasted blanched peanut products, reported Chicago Tribune.

기후변화와 다양한 대체 작물 등으로 인해 설탕가격이 년 내에 완화될 것으로 보인다.  Sugar prices may soften over the course of this year while corn, wheat, soybeans and cocoa surge to multi-month and all-time highs as dry weather ravages crops. Standard Chartered cut quarterly price forecasts for benchmark sugar prices after concerns receded over supply from Brazil, but warned upside risks remained for 2013. The bank lowered its average sugar price forecasts to 21 U.S. cents/lb. for the third quarter, from 23 cents previously and 22 cents/lb. for the fourth quarter from 24 cents, reported CNBC.com. 중국의 사과 소비량이 많아짐에 따라 과일가격이 상승하고 주스 제조업체의원가도 상승하고 있다.  As China consumes more apples, prices for the fruit are rising, driving up costs for juice makers. Fresh apple consumption in China, which produces more than half of the global supply of the fruit, has soared 80% from the 2007-2008 crop year to the crop year ending in June 2012, according to the USDA. That compares with growth of just 36% world-wide in the same period. The surge is shaking up a small corner of the commodities world, the market for apple-juice concentrate in the U.S., and has led to the first-ever futures contract for the product,reported The Wall Street Journal.

Fighting the insect could cost farmers who may have to spray pesticides twice a week.

Based on these findings, the researchers recommend that the restaurant and food-service sectors enhance their quality-control protocols for olive oil by including more effective tests, reported Western Farm Press.
