The DSC Planning Council meets in late January to select workshop and Expo theatre session topics to develop and they welcome ideas from past and future attendees and exhibitors. Researchers at the Institute of Medical Science and Jeju National University in Korea analyzed the components of young asparagus shoots and leaves to compare their biochemical effects on human and rat liver cells. The California Homemade Food Act creates a new category of food production called a "cottage food operation." To qualify for a state permit under the law, cottage food operators must attend a food safety class and pass an exam developed by the California Department of Public Health.
